Description
QBasic 1.1 needs DOSBox to run on Windows Vista and greater, Mac, and Linux.
DosBox is a free download at www.dosbox.com

QB64 is an updated clone of the QBasic language and is QuickBasic 4.5 compatible. It is suggested to use QB64 instead of QBasic 1.1, when possible.

QBasic is a simple to use and learn computer language. Students wanting to learn programming should take a look at QBasic. QBasic has a command-line interface. New programmers can simply type the programming syntax and start programming. Students can start programming a few moments after installation. Languages like Visual Basic take some time to understand the interface and what is happening.

Teachers will find that QBasic (and QB64) can run on just about any computer, with or without DOSBox. The students can work on their assignments at home or at other computers without complication or expense.

There are QBasic/QB64 tutorials on the SchoolFreeware Tutorial Page.
