It is going to be interesting to see how this idea works out:

The Free Pascal Tutorial Series is changing its emphasis to completing full programs. The next group of tutorials creates a simple but practical application from start to finish. The application will quiz students on reading an analogue clock.

Anyone can take the code, modify the code, and then distribute the  modified application. Built applications / programs, or anything else, in the Downloads Section, are not available for your distribution. You can link to the downloads page, but please do not distribute these applications.

For students looking to get jobs in the computer field. You can use your new application to build a web portfolio or website. Even if you do not choose to use Free Pascal and Lazarus, you can translate the logic to another programming language.

Having a nice portfolio can make a lasting impression on your interviewers. Setting up your website as a business can show that you have business sense and management skills. Many sites start as a hobby and can start making some nice money. SchoolFreeware created a page about starting a web content business. The page includes explanations of Google Adsense, affiliates programs, advertising and blogs and gives examples on how to use them. Note: There is no guarantee that any money will be generated.
